Conference Venue : The Aarhus School of Architecture

The ROB|ARCH2026 conference is hosted at the Aarhus School of Architecture – a renowned higher education institution located in Aarhus, Denmark. The school was founded in 1965 and offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in architecture, design, and planning. The school is known for its innovative and experimental approach to architecture.

In August 2021, it moved into Denmark’s first new-built architecture school, which has received international acclaim for its architectural design. The building features a range of innovative learning spaces, including studios, workshops, and exhibition areas that will be used to frame an engaging conference environment.

The Aarhus School of Architecture believes architecture should influence the world by creating sustainable settings for people who live in it. This is they educate architects who, through new ideas and relevant solutions, can create value for the community in a changing world – a world which increasingly challenges us to think creatively in order to exist, to live, and to thrive. This is achieved by working closely with other professional groups, by embracing new technologies, by daring to experiment, and by constantly acquiring new skills.

Aarhus is the second-largest city in Denmark, located on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula. The city has a rich history that dates back to the Viking Age. It was founded in the 8th century, and throughout the Middle Ages, it was an important trading center and a strategic military location. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Aarhus experienced rapid growth and modernization, becoming a major cultural, economic, and educational center in Denmark. With a population of around 350,000, it is today known for its vibrant cultural scene and youthful atmosphere, thanks in part to the large student population.

The city is home to several museums, including the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum and the Moesgaard Museum, as well as a thriving music and nightlife scene. Aarhus is also known for its picturesque beaches, as well as its many parks and green spaces. Finally, the city is a hub for innovation and technology, with a growing startup scene and several world-class research institutions.

The Robot Lab

As part of the move to the new school, and as part of the Aarhus School of Architectures vision, they have invested in state of the art digital fabrication facilities, ranging from various 3d printing technologies (FDM, SLS and SLA) to 5 axis CNC’s and industrial robot arms.

Within the schools robot lab you find you find nine ABBIRB 120 – and one ABBIRB6620 robot arms, ready to be equipped with multiple different tools.

This investment has been motivated by how technology can affect and contribute to the built environment.
